It is possible to limit the Internet bandwidth for any device of your home network utilizing Keenetic tools.
NOTE: Important! You cannot set the Internet bandwidth limit to connected devices In 'Repeater' or 'Adapter' system operating modes.
You can limit the Internet bandwidth for individual registered devices on your home network, as well as for all unregistered devices.
1. Internet bandwidth limit for registered devices.
TIP: Tip: We recommend you to register your devices to have more flexible network management opportunities. For additional info, you can refer to the article 'Connected devices registration.'
Click on device entry on the 'Device List' page. In the window that appears, enable the 'Speed limit' option. Specify the maximum Internet bandwidth in 'Limit' using kbps or Mbps. (this is an integer between 64 and 100000 for kbps and from 1 to 976 for Mbps).
NOTE: Important! This limit will be applied both for incoming and outgoing traffic.
In our case, we set 10 Mbits/s limit for the device from the home network.
To check the Internet b/w limit, perform the speed test from the device to which you have applied b/w settings. To do this, you can use Speedtest web service.
1.2. You can use a schedule for the Internet b/w limit. For example, you want to set b/w limit that works from 10-00 until 17-00 on Monday.
By default, the Schedule has 'Always on' value in the appropriate field. To create a schedule, click on the 'Add schedule.'
In the appeared window, you have to specify the name of your new schedule and mark the working time. In our case, we created the schedule named 'pc-speed-limit,' which works from 10 to 17 on Monday till Thursday.
1.3. You can configure the Internet b/w limit for all devices in the 'Home network' (Home) segment via the router command line (CLI) interface.
CLI: interface Home traffic-shape rate 10000
After that save settings by typing following command:
CLI: system configuration save
To cancel this setting, use the following commands:
CLI: no interface Home traffic-shape
system configuration save
2. Bandwidth limit for unregistered devices
Click 'Settings for unregistered devices' on the 'Device List' page.
Specify the maximum Internet b/w for unregistered devices in the 'Speed limit' window.
NOTE: Important! Speed limit takes effect for unregistered users both in the main home network and in the guest network.
This setting sets the Internet b/w for each client. Internet bandwidth is not shared among users of the Guest network as in the case of setting the Internet b/w limit on the 'Guest network' page. This will avoid the situation when someone downloads a torrent and occupies the entire Internet bandwidth of the guest network.
